Overview

A blonde, blue eyed mother from white, rural Kentucky, raised in a conservative, religious (borderline-cult) community. Childhood memories of her father's invitation - and rejection - to join the local Klu Klux Klan chapter, and later disowned for loving a Black man. A dark-skinned Black father from downtown Cincinnati, born into an abstract form of urban poverty, amidst family struggles with drugs and alcoholism. Caught in the tension between his radical ideals and the conservative instincts, unsure where his identity lands him. The artist has a unique upbringing amidst the chaos of these spiraling worlds, the artist explores the turbulent experience of multi-racial identity, where societal forces demand rigid classification personally, politically, and socio-culturally ni a world of fluid realities. This installation experience embodies the clash between extremes- Black &White and the divergence between external interpretation and internal truth-reflecting the artists lived experience. Various sculptures, such as wire configurations convey rigidity, tension, restriction, constraint and yet resilience, even as the wire's malleability allows reshaping and transformation. This is set against a spiralized aesthetic that reflects fluidity, interconnection, individuality, and freedom. The spiral motif extends beyond the sculptures, becoming a central thread in the artist's design language for representing multiracial identities. In this space between fixed and fluid, chaos becomes a site of resilience and unexpected beauty. How do we uncover the beauty within contradiction? We must reclaim it, embrace it, and live it- Beauty in Chaos.
